Welcome to our FUN ZONE
We have lots of fun here at Salt Spring Adventures, which makes the job really enjoyable for all our staff and subsequently, we want all of our guests to have an equal if not more enjoyable experience on any of the adventures they choose to join us for. Whether it be: going on a guided kayak tour with one of our fantastic guides, renting a couple of bikes and hitting the road, paddling in our harbour on some stand-up paddle-boards as either a “never-tried-it-before” or a “more-seasoned” paddle-boarder, or joining one of our captains on either a laid-back relaxing sailing charter, or witnessing the majestic beauty of our local marine life such as killer whales, humpbacks, porpoise, and seals from the seat of our zodiac…… we want you to have a fun adventure, and that’s why we call ourselves an adventure company. Its just what we do! So, if you are an adventure seeker or are looking for some fun, you’ve come to the right place! We can help you with your next adventure plans!

I want to ride my bicycle, I want to ride my bike…
One of the many adventures we can help you with is cycling. We have a variety of adult bike sizes available for renting and they are all well maintained and in great shape. Our bikes are awaiting to accompany you on your next cycling adventure.
Cycling on Salt Spring Island is a great way to tour the island at a more intimate level. The winding roads, and beautiful scenery are worth the effort for the hills you will encounter on your journey. There are many destinations that are attainable via bike and the art studios sprinkled about are all delightful to explore.
While its true that Salt Spring has many big mountains in the south that are great enjoyment for keen cyclists who love the challenge, we also have a hill-friendly north side to our island that is great for cyclists of all skill levels.
And, for a breathtaking view of the northern most point of Salt Spring Island, a small detour from the main road heading north will take you to a 250 Degree lookout of the surrounding islands.

More than just watching whales.
While the focus of our daily excursions is visiting the whales we know and love, on our outings we experience much more than just cetacea. Bald Eagles, Red Tailed Hawks, Ospreys, Seals, Otters, and a variety of Dolphins and Porpoises are only a few of the species we frequently have the privilege to observe. The wide range of biodiversity across the Cascadian archipelago is truly awe-inducing, and there is no feeling quite like the one conjured while gazing out across our waters.
Aside from the plethora of marine and aquatic life observed, one will have a lasting impression of the beauty and serenity that surrounds the Gulf Islands. The lush green landscapes and lack of development provide an evident allure to those seeking the charms of Island Life. The clean air and abundance of good-will keeps even the slickest of city dwellers for an extra night (or with plans to return!). One trip out on the water with us and you will be planning your retirement! Educational, aesthetically pleasing and exciting, our tours capture the essence of our Temperate Rainforest and leaves one with a desire to, “Get away from it all.”
The incredible view of the Olympic and North Cascade mountain ranges, the Sun setting over the water, or the light touch of the sea breeze upon the skin are minutiae that make the experience of Whale Watching more than just watching whales.

Stand-Up-Paddleboards: Simple yet effective
While the use of the Stand-Up-Paddle Board, (Hoe he’e nalu in Hawaiin) is an ancient practice, it is only in recent years that is has become as popular as it is. In 2013 a survey found that Stand-Up-Paddle Boarding as more first-timers than any other water-sport in the United States that year!
Whether you’re paddling for recreation, fitness, racing on lakes and large river, surfing on ocean waves, paddling in river rapids, SUP Yoga, and fishing. The list goes on. There are even reports of warriors using the Paddle Board to enter enemy territory quietly during war time!
The health benefits are numerous and noticeable right away. Paddle Boarding has you to standing in an upright position on the board, which requires the use of core muscles and leg strength to maintain balance. Leg muscles will be hard at work attempting to stabilize your center of gravity, while the arms, back and shoulders are used to propel the paddle Board in the water. The core, back and abdominal muscles are constantly at work to maintain your upright position. (Or for those of us who want to use a little less effort, sitting or kneeling on the boards is also an equally enjoyable experience)
Science has shown that simply being out on the water is calming and can reduce stress levels. We know that engaging with nature can have a positive effect on your mental health and help improve yourself in most, if not all, areas of physical fitness. Where better to soothe yourself with the effects of nature than on our slice of paradise, beautiful Salt Spring Island? From local attitudes to local wildlife, you will be blown away by what the Island has to offer.
