Zoe Ward, New Owner of Salt Spring Adventure Co.

ABOUT THE OWNER

The Salt Spring Adventure Co. Ltd. is under the ownership of Zoë Ward, who has a degree in Marine Biology and Sustainability. She is passionate about the ocean, outdoors and creating an operation that enables learning through adventure. Zoë and her team love sharing their knowledge to educate people about the amazing local wildlife and ecology of the Salish Sea and Gulf Islands.

“I wholeheartedly believe that by experiencing and coming to care about an area, individuals will be moved to protect it. The first step to conservation is education; therefore, we aim to inspire each and every day.”

Salt Spring Adventures Team

ABOUT OUR TEAM

All our staff have been chosen for who they are: fun, good-natured, knowledgeable, and experienced people.

Our kayak guides all retain their Wilderness First Aid Certification (including CPR), have been trained by the Sea Kayak Guides Alliance, and are dedicated to providing you with a safe and fun Salt Spring adventure.

Our Captains are all Transport Canada certified, have their marine first aid and have ample knowledge on the local area and wildlife populations we come across each day.

Environmental Partners

As a company, we understand that we are intrinsically linked to the local natural environment. In the interest of maintaining a sustainable and ecologically aware operation we proudly support and contribute to the following organizations:

We are a Member, supporting the Centre for Whale Research which, for more than 40 years now, is dedicated to the study and conservation of the Southern Resident Killer Whale (Orca) population in the Pacific Northwest.

We are one of 36 Members of the Pacific Whale Watch Association, committed to research, education, and responsible wildlife viewing. Member companies depart from 20 different ports in Washington State and British Columbia, creating critical constituencies for conservation.

The Salt Spring Conservancy, dedicated to protecting ecologically significant and vulnerable lands on Salt Spring Island.

We are a Business Member of this registered non-profit society dedicated to the creation of a marine network of campsites and access points along the coastline of British Columbia to ensure continued coastal access by kayak, canoe, and other small pleasure craft.

The RES was established in 2000 with a mission to help shape an environmentally sensitive future for the Clayoquot and Barkley Sound region through education and community stewardship. The RES’ aim is to enable citizens within and beyond the Clayoquot and Barkley Sound region to participate knowledgeably, effectively and responsibly in the work of shaping this future for the region and for the planet.
